@AuManufacturing’s Australia’s 50 most innovative manufacturers – what we learned

When @AuManufacturing and the Australian Manufacturing Forum embarked on a quest to identify and celebrate Australia’s 50 most innovative manufacturers, we weren’t sure what we would find.

Well, we have been overwhelmed with nominations from many companies we report on regularly, and from many we had only ever heard about but had never heard from previously.

There are even some we have never heard about – but we will be sure to write about in future. (Full list – Australia’s 50 most innovative manufacturers revealed – here.)

Our judges were Bruce Minty, Senior Product Manager, MYOB, Dr Munib Karavdic, CEO, WAVE and Conjoint Professor Design and Innovation, AGSM/UNSW, Rodney Ryan. State Manager for SMC Corporation, Victoria and Tasmania, Bradley Trewin, National Sales and Business Development Manager, Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions, and Tyson Bowen, Manager PR and Communications, Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre.

They pored over each company’s nomination, rating it against an exhaustive points scoring system across the whole gamut of what is innovation – and they reached a consensus on a single point score for each company.

In the end there was only a handful of points in it.

What we know now is that innovation is alive and well among Australia’s SME manufacturing community.

It ranges from the revolutionary to the evolutionary, from industrial technologies to fast moving consumer goods, from the highest technologies to the simplest, from innovating with your people to your business model.

We will be back next year – and we want to hear from you – have you got what it takes to be named among Australia’s 50 most innovative manufacturers?
