Austrade CEO gives notice

Austrade’s chief executive officer, Dr Stephanie Fahey, will finish her role on July 10.

A statement from trade minister Simon Birmingham praised Fahey’s work leading the government agency, including during a comprehensive organisational review, the addition of new digital trade and investment tools, and expanding its work in regional Australia.

“As a member of the high-calibre, industry led Nation Brand Advisory Council, Dr Fahey’s work will inform the future positioning of Australia as a nation of irrepressible optimism and opportunity,” said Birmingham.

“This will be of lasting benefit to Australian exporters, such as the success stories on show at the impressive 2019 Austrade Export Awards.”

Fahey is a former EY lead partner for education in Oceania and deputy vice chancellor (global engagement) at Monash University. She began as CEO of Austrade in February 2017.
