Australian-developed design software company secures $2.8 million, aims to take users with ideas from “concept to commerce”

Sydney-based startup Fabra has secured $2.8 million in pre-seed funding and launched the public beta of its design software, which it describes as an intuitive web-based platform to “easily design manufacturer-ready products online.”

According to a statement from the company on Tuesday, its investors so far include January Capital, Side Stage Ventures, Concept Ventures and Li & Fung, with the backing coming as it prepares for general availability “in early 2026”.

Fabra was founded in 2023 by Luke Grana, Gloria Yu and former Canva engineer Nick Manks. The company said it hopes to do better than legacy 3D design software, which it says is “complex, costly and built for specialists” by developing “an intuitive platform that seamlessly moves users from concept to commerce, including the tech pack needed for manufacturing”.

Its offering is designed for both individual designers and teams, and the public beta is focussed on fashion, mentioning that its software infrastructure is “built for expansion into other verticals” at a later time.

“With new web-based 3D technology, fast GPUs, and cloud rendering, designing physical products in the browser is no longer futuristic,” said co-founder and CEO Grana.

“At Fabra, we’re building the platform to make it possible. No downloads, no training, just creativity. We want to unlock everyone who has ideas but never had the tools to bring them to life.”

Alex Rankin from January Capital added that he believed Fabra will enable “a new category of concept to commerce over time”.
