Boral boss Bansal to step down

Manufacturing News

SGH has announced that Boral CEO and Managing Director Vik Bansal will step down, with the transition to a new leader at SGH’s building products division expected “in early 2026”.

SGH, formerly known as Seven Group Holdings, said on Tuesday that it had worked with Bansal on “a structured succession to ensure a smooth leadership transition”.

Matt McKenzie, the current Executive General Manager – Concrete and Quarries (South), begins as Chief Operating Officer, effective July 1 (the same day as the announcement), “to support leadership continuity and drive ongoing momentum.”

“Over the past three years, we have repositioned the business including unlocking value from our privileged asset base, national scale, and vertically integrated model – all while fostering a high-performance culture,” said Bansal.

“With Boral in a significantly stronger position and a capable leadership team in place, now is the right time to begin the next phase.”

Bansal has been in the role since late-2022, and was previously CEO at InfraBuild (2021-2022) and Cleanaway (2015-2021). During his time at Boral he has led its Good to Great transformation strategy.

“Under Vik’s leadership, the Good to Great strategy and the Boral Way operating discipline have been deeply embedded, driving a disciplined focus on performance, stakeholder, and cultural alignment,” said Ryan Stokes, SGH MD & CEO.

“He has built a high-calibre team and led a step change in Boral’s operational and financial outcomes. We look forward to his continued contribution as a Non-Executive Director.”
