Federal government announces winners in $50 million-plus of modernisation grants
Grant recipients under the federal government’s Manufacturing Modernisation Fund Round 2 have been announced.
Companies including Bickford’s Australia (receiving $1 million for an automated bottling line), Calix ($1 million for equipment to produce bioactive materials) and Jenkin Bros Engineers ($522,421 for a new line for specialty metal products) were among recipients. A full list from business.gov.au and released on Monday is reproduced below.
According to industry minister Christian Porter, the total amount awarded was $55 million.
Porter said the grants would help recipients become more internationally competitive, and, “also help to grow well-paid and highly skilled jobs in the modern manufacturing sector for Australian workers.
“We know that for every manufacturing job we create, at least three additional jobs are created in other areas of our economy.”
The MMF supports projects by manufacturing SMEs (under 200 employees) through grants of between $100,000 and $1 million, covering up to 25 per cent of project costs. Projects can run for up to two years and support co-funding capital investments and should:
- adopt new technologies
- encourage innovation
- become more productive and competitive in the market and
- create more jobs.
