Electronics business GME has released the new TX6165 range of 5-watt UHF CB (citizen band) radios.
In a statement on Monday, the company said the range offers class-leading features including a “large, clear LCD display, 2-Watt speaker and a user-programmable button” as well as 5-Watt transmission power and an IP67 ingress-protection rating.
It described the TX6165 range as “serious equipment for users who need rugged and reliable UHF CB communication, for both work and play.”
“Whether you’re exploring Australia’s bushland via 4×4, working in remote areas, or staying connected on the job site, communication is key. And with only 27% of the Australian landmass covered by mobile phone reception, you need the right tech to keep safe,” said GME Safety Expert, Tony Crooke, in a statement.
“This is where the TX6165 delivers; providing rugged functionality for all users, without breaking the bank.”
A focus for GME is users without access to mobile phone coverage, such as truckers, agriculture workers, and caravanners.
The company has its origins 1959 and its establishment as Standard Components, working in TV tuner reconditioning. Nowadays its markets include off-road, trucking and maritime.
The company stated during the 2022 opening of a Zone 4 secure facility at its Winston Hills, NSW site, that GME is Australia’s only maker of UHF CB radios and emergency beacons.
According to its website it employs over 245 staff in Australia. It acts as a wholesaler as well as manufacturer, with “over 80% of our annual revenue generated by Australian Made products.”
Product information for the TX6165 range lists the country of origin as China.
