Gold Coast dessert manufacturer launches dairy powders for wellness market

Gold Coast-based beverage and dessert powders manufacturer Frosty Boy has announced the launch of a new nutritional supplement business, Wellboost.

Wellboost CEO Dirk Pretorius, who is also managing director of Frosty Boy, said the launch was the result of 12 months R&D, and was sped up by the pandemic.

“COVID-19 was a massive shock to communities everywhere, changing the way we work, live and exercise. As society returns to normal, we are also expecting many to reconsider their health as a priority, and they may be looking for supplements to get back on track,” Pretorius said in a statement.

He added that, “Australian products are in demand and we can produce powder-based products, including supplements, as good as or better than what is currently in the market.”

The wellbeing segment is worth $36.6 million in Australia, according to Euromonitor research.

Wellboost’s two initial products, Immuno Plus and Care Plus, are available in chocolate and vanilla flavours, and contain probiotics, prebiotics and vitamins. Care Plus is also available in “neutral” flavour, for addition to food.

The products are targeted to retail, aged and healthcare services, and QSR businesses.

Frosty Boy was established in 1976. It exports to 60 countries.
