Guidelines released for $20 million in MiQ round 6 grants

Manufacturing News

Guidelines for round 6 of the state government’s Made in Queensland grant program, which offers up to $2.5 million in matched funding for eligible projects, were released on Wednesday.

The program continues to offer assistance to invest in equipment, though includes $2.5 million this round for non-equipment investments, said manufacturing minister Glenn Butcher at an event in Cairns.

This could cover investment in “software, system improvements, lean manufacturing, professional advice, improvement planning” and other things. The total value of grants through the round is $20 million.

A total of 136 projects have been supported so far through MiQ grants, said Butcher. 42 per cent are being delivered in the regions.

“The results speak for themselves with 5,900 jobs supported and created from this job generating investment,” he added.

“We want to make sure that manufacturers in Cairns and right across Queensland are in the best possible position to work on these major contracts.”

Applications for grants through the round, valued at $20 million in total, will open on October 16 and close December 11.
