Professor Henrik von Scheel (pictured), an internationally-recognised strategist and futurist known as the man who coined the term Industry 4.0, will feature at the upcoming Industrial Transformation Australia event in Sydney this July.
According to a statement from event organisers Hannover Fairs Australia on Monday, von Scheel will reveal what will influence the success of Australia’s future in Industry 4.0 in his keynote.
The professor is travelling to Sydney from Switzerland to address the event at Olympic Park’s The Dome. Von Scheel’s bio lists him as having coined the term the 4th Industrial Revolution, as “one of the masterminds and driving force” behind its inception, and — as member of the Advisory Group for the Federal Ministry Education & Research with Prof August Wilhelm Scheer and Prof Henning Kagermann — tasked with defining high-tech strategy for Germany.
“We are in one of the most disruptive periods in human history, which provides great opportunities to innovate and change the way we live for the better,” said von Scheel.
“Australia is at a pivotal moment with the big question hanging over its head: Is Australia ready to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution or will it be left behind? I’m looking forward to exploring this question in July and connecting with the local industry.”
He will also be presenting on day two at the event’s Processing & Packaging Pavilion.
Mike Nissen, the Commercial Director at Hannover Fairs Australia added that the visiting keynote is expected to “both challenge and inspire” and provide a detailed understanding of what lies ahead.
“Having Industrial Transformation and [intralogistics, robotics and automation, supply chain management, and materials handling event] CeMAT Australia co-located provides the opportunity for the full supply chain… to gather in one place.
“We expect to have the entire industry in attendance as there will be so much to learn and engage with.”
