The Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (Manufacturing Alliance), one of the federal government’s ten Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs), has established a new office in Canberra, co-located with the JSC for transport and logistics, Industry Skills Australia (ISA.)
The Melbourne-headquartered, industry-owned not-for-profit, said in a statement that the new site at Barton will help foster broader links with unions, industry, and government.
Manufacturing Alliance CEO Sharon Robertson (pictured on left) said on Wednesday that the expansion “aligns with the goal of building stronger connections across the Australian manufacturing sector for a more responsive approach to workforce development.”
Chair Graeme Russell, who opened the new office on Wednesday, ““The solutions to the manufacturing sector’s workforce skills challenges lie in broader and deeper engagement with key stakeholders – industry, unions, training organisations and government – and in working closely with other Jobs & Skills Councils.”
The Manufacturing Alliance, previously known as the IBSA Group, was established in June 2023.
The JSCs each have four core responsibilities: Workforce Planning; Training Product Development; Implementation, Promotion and Monitoring; and Industry Stewardship.
