Manufacturing revenue figures are continuing to grow, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, outperforming a 13-industry aggregate for the month of July.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Monthly Business Turnover Indicator found an increase of 4.2 per cent for manufacturers compared to July 2024. The industry's rate of growth for the year to July was 13.2 per cent.

Of the other 12 categories tracked, electricity, gas, water and waste services revenues grew the sharpest at 15.8 per cent for July, followed by professional, scientific and technical services (up 4.6 per cent.)

The average increase across all 13 industries was 2.9 per cent, with the smallest gain in Information media and telecommunications (1.0 per cent.)

Robert Ewing, ABS head of business statistics, said in a statement on Tuesday that, ‘The rise was the largest since May 2022, with growth in turnover seen across all industries.”

The indicator was launched in 2021 and tracks figures from companies that submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) monthly (GST annual turnover of $20 million or more, plus some smaller businesses that report monthly on a voluntary basis.)
