Manufacturing News

Engineering company Marley Flow Control has completed the first project with the NSW government-owned Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF.)

In a statement on Wednesday, the AMRF – which was until recently named the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility – said the completed work was a time-study project, which identified operational efficiencies in Marley Flow Control’s manufacturing processes.

It said the result could be “up to six times the current productivity” of the business and an estimated 15 -20 per cent saving on production costs. The company has begun work on a new product design with the AMRF’s help.

Marley Flow Control describes itself as specialising in cooling tower manufacture and maintenance, flow control engineering, large-scale fan manufacturing, laser alignment and facilities maintenance.

“Working with the AMRF, tapping into their engineering expertise and expert knowledge to improve our manufacturing processes and ways of working, will enable us to increase productivity and reduce costs. Simple changes could make a massive difference to our operations,” said Director Gareth Jones (pictured on left.)

“We see this as the beginning of a long partnership with the AMRF to help develop our product offering.”

The AMRF is located in the First Building at Bradfield City Centre in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

AMRF Executive Director, Ben Kitcher (pictured on right) said, “By focusing on practical and implementable solutions to solve manufacturing challenges, the AMRF will help local businesses become more globally competitive.”

The AMRF said that other projects underway include in aerospace, agriculture, defence, energy, medtech sectors.
