New Austrade CEO named

Xavier Simonet has been announced as the next head of Austrade, taking over from interim CEO Tim Beresford.

Simonet is currently CEO and managing director of Kathmandu Holdings, and his previous roles include CEO of Radley London and international director of Seafolly.

“Mr Simonet will bring proven and strong leadership to Austrade, as it plays its part in helping Australian businesses to navigate through and bounce back from this significant period of economic and trade uncertainty,” said trade minister Simon Birmingham in a statement.

“Mr Simonet will bring extensive business acumen and broad experience in international business development having previously worked across Europe, the US and the Asia Pacific. 

Austrade’s last CEO, Stephanie Fahey, finished in July.
