Dr Martin Cole has been named the incoming CEO of Wine Australia, beginning on November 15, in a statement from federal agriculture minister David Littleproud

“Under Dr Cole’s leadership, Wine Australia will continue to deliver on its mission to support a competitive wine sector, growing domestic and international markets and protecting the reputation of Australian wine,” said Littleproud on Monday.

Wine Australia is a federal statutory authority supporting R&D, market development, regulatory services and marketing activities for the industry.

Cole is a food scientist by training and has held senior leadership roles, including at the CSIRO and as a former head of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide. He will replace Andreas Clark in his new role. Clark finished in July this year after eight years as CEO.

“With his broad range of skills and experience, we know he’ll be a great asset to the Australian grape and wine community, and we look forward to continuing to deliver results for our levy payers under his leadership,” added Dr Michele Allan, chair of Wine Australia.
