Planet Innovation and Olympus aim at life sciences markets

Australian innovative manufacturer Planet Innovation and Japan’s Olympus Corporation have signed a long-term strategic partnership to develop and manufacture innovative digital workflow solutions for life science markets.

Healthtech contract design and manufacturing company Planet Innovation will work with Olympus subsidiary, the Evident Corporation which is the Japanese company’s former Scientific Solutions business and a leader in microscopy and imaging solutions.

Planet Innovation is well known for its business R&D, business incubator and investments which have seen the creation of businesses such as Lumos Diagnostics, Atmo Biosciences, Visus Therapeutics and Zen Ecosystems.

Olympus was founded in 1919 and has been associated with numerous developments in photography, microscopy and medical instruments.

According to a statement, the new partnership agreement strengthens the relationship between the two companies which has been built through R&D collaboration for the design of new instruments.

Planet Innovation CEO Stuart Elliott, said: “Evident and PI share a common purpose of making people’s lives healthier, safer and more fulfilling.

“By leveraging PI’s combination of design innovation and manufacturing capabilities we believe we are a perfect partner to support Evident on this quest.”

Evident Head of Life Science Strategy Motoki Inoue said: “Evident’s goal is to provide products and services that support our customers as they advance the standard of life science around the world.

“Our collaboration with PI will support us as we continue to expand our range of advanced solutions.”
