Electronics manufacturer REDARC has extended its defence businesses with the acquisition of electronic warfare specialist Asension which has been in voluntary administration.
REDARC Defence & Space will continue Asension’s work at the forefront of electronic warfare, engineering, operations, and grow partnerships with universities, the Defence Science and Technology Group, and industry partners, according to an announcement.
REDARC said: “Asension’s innovative Wombat and MOESS solutions, will provide sophisticated sovereign technologies to increase Australia’s Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW) capability.”
MOESS or Miniaturised Orbital Electronic Warfare Sensor System is a space-based tactical EW sensor system to provide persistent, resilient and adaptable situational awareness.
The Wombat smart sensor suite is a software-definable intelligent transceiver to support user-configurable RF applications with high speed data analysis and monitoring.
In 2022, Asension was awarded a $4.35 million grant through the Defence Innovation Hub to develop a space-based tactical sensor system for the Defence.
As part of the REDARC Group, REDARC Defence & Space aims to deliver cutting-edge technology to meet the evolving demands of the defence and space industry.
“By acquiring Asension’s intellectual property, REDARC Defence & Space will continue the development and deployment of critical defence technologies.
“This acquisition underscores REDARC’s commitment to supporting the Australian Defence Industry and strengthening Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities.”
