SciDev’s big mining sector contract win

Manufacturing News

Wastewater treatment company SciDev has won a new three-year contract to supply its MaxiFlox treatment chemicals to Australia’s largest zircon mine and processing plant near Ceduna in South Australia.

The company will supply the flocculant chemicals to Illuka Resources’ Jacinth-Ambrosia operation (pictured) under a $14 million extension to its existing supply contracts.

Maxiflox is used to treat process mine site tailings water with high salinity levels, and is also supplied to Iluka’s Cataby mine in Western Australia.

The chemicals maximise water recovery and minimise the footprint of tailings disposal operations.

SciDev CEO Sean Halpin said: “Our ongoing relationahip with Iluka reflects both the quality of our products and the skill set of our team.

“We remain actively engaged with a number of international and domestic resource clients and we expect the sector to deliver future growth opportunities for SciDev in FY23 and beyond.”

SciDev’s business is focussed on developing and manufacturing a range of chemistries for use in wastewater treatment.

The final products produced from Jacinth-Ambrosia ores are zircon, rutile and ilmenite.
