Luxury Gold Coast boat builder Riviera has reached an historic milestone, launching its 6000th motor yacht at its production facility at Coomera.
To mark the occasion, the company’s 950 strong team wearing commemorative shirts formed a visually spectacular ‘guard of honour’ for the vessel, measuring hundreds of metres, as it emerged from the manufacturing station.
The motor yacht itself, a metallic silver hulled 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition, was then presented to long time Sydney based owners, Peter Haig and his wife, Denise who have owned 10 Rivieras.
Riviera owner and chairman, Rodney Longhurst said: “Our six thousandth motor yacht – what an incredible achievement for the thousands of craftspeople who have built Riviera yachts over the past 44 years.
“This historic milestone reinforces Riviera’s reputation as one of the most sought after motor yachts in the world.
“To be successful on the highly competitive global stage of luxury boat building, you must have an absolute commitment to design, quality and owner care.”
Riviera was founded in Sydney in 1980 before moving to Labrador on the Gold Coast in 1981, moving 19 years later to its current 16.8 hectare production facility at Coomera,
which is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
Riviera has representatives in the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as New Zealand and Australia, selling around 150 motor yachts per year, with more than 60 per cent exported.
Riviera will display the six thousandth boat at the upcoming Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show to be held between May 23 and 26.
Longhurst said: “Riviera will host a record display at the event which will include the 6000th Riviera, among a brilliant showcase of 12 luxury motor yachts from our 39 to 78 feet range.
“We’ll also have the World Premiere of the very latest Riviera.”
