Australia’s leading nutraceutical manufacturer, Star Combo (ASX:S66) has officially formed a strategic partnership with Monash University, aiming to translate advanced research into industrial applications and accelerate innovation in Australia’s high-tech manufacturing sector. 

This initiative builds on research outcomes from the Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded NetZero Hub, which fosters collaborative research to propel industrial innovation. The partnership exemplifies how grant-supported academic breakthroughs can be transformed into scalable, practical solutions in advanced, intelligent manufacturing, addressing increasing market demands for technological transformation. 

Focusing on smart automation, precision control, and digital integration, the collaboration leverages Monash’s innovative research to enhance Star Combo’s production ecosystem, advancing automation capabilities and operational efficiency. 

Technology Highlights 

Star Combo’s next-generation smart production line integrates: 

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) for real-time production optimisation and adaptive process control; 
  • Internet of Things (IoT) sensor networks enabling continuous equipment monitoring and predictive maintenance, minimising downtime; 
  • High-speed, high-precision machine vision systems consistent product quality; Advanced environmental monitoring tools supporting transparent and efficient resource management. 

Together, these innovations position Star Combo at the forefront of automated, data-driven manufacturing, setting a new industry benchmark in the nutraceutical sector. 

The signing ceremony was held last Thursday at Star Combo’s headquarters in Sydney, with Monash University represented by Dr Yunlong Tang, a key contributor to the NetZero Hub. As part of the collaboration, Star Combo has begun testing its next-generation smart production line, showcasing the integration of advanced technologies and setting the stage for more intelligent and scalable manufacturing. This reflects the growing impact of digital innovation on Australia’s health manufacturing industry.
