University investment group Uniseed is looking for new venture finance managers following its expansion, with five new universities backing its commercialising efforts.

Uniseed is now searching for people to fill new roles of Investment Manager (Technology) in Melbourne and an Investment Manager (Biotechnology) in Sydney.

Uniseed’s existing partners are the long established universities of Queensland, NSW, Melbourne, and Sydney, plus science agency CSIRO.

They were recently joined by Monash University as a full partner, and new collaboration partnerships of four NSW universities – Newcastle, UTS, Western Sydney and Macquarie.

The five new members spend around $7.7 billion annually on research.

According to Uniseed, which invests in research based startups and scale up businesses said: “The Investment Manager’s role is primarily focused on opportunities that fall within NSW or Melbourne.

“The role has a large focus on community liaison including university commercialisation teams, researchers, incubators and accelerators.

“The Investment Manager will find investment opportunities, complete diligence and then manage the investment working towards company sale.”
