Mack Trucks Australia has shared news of the delivery of the 80,000th truck built at its Wacol, Brisbane factory, with this going to Western Australia to join the haulage fleet of logistics company MLG.

In an article this week for its in-house publication, Bulldog Magazine, the Volvo Group Australia-owned company said number 80,000 was a 300-ton rated Mack Titan vehicle.

MLG’s fleet numbers approximately 140 — with over half of these Mack trucks — and most of these are used to haul ore from open pits to operating plants. The first in its fleet was a 170-ton rated Titan, delivered in 2014 and still in operation.

“The culture of Volvo Group is one of pride and passion; we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to acknowledge our engineers and technicians for their contribution in achieving this incredible milestone,” said Martin Merrick, President and CEO of Volvo Group Australia.

“World class manufacturing is alive and well here in Australia and I’m extremely proud to see this Mack Titan delivered to such a valued business partner.”

The Wacol site opened in 1972, according to Volvo’s website, and makes both Mack and Volvo vehicles. Approximately 3,000 trucks are built there a year.

The site received Australian Made certification in 2017.
