Winning scaleup businesses named at Australian Technologies Competition 2021

Winners at the 11th annual Australian Technologies Competition were named on Tuesday evening at a virtual event hosted in Melbourne.

The 11 category winners were selected after a two-day competition (see below list) with the final stage a pitching contest.

Textile recycling company BlockTexx (which made the final cut in the Advanced Manufacturing and Circular Economy categories) was the winner in Circular Economy.

AI workplace safety company Presien (Advanced Manufacturing and Mining Technologies) won the Mining division. Presien is also an Advanced Manufacturing finalist at the upcoming InnovationAus 2021 Awards.

FormFlow won Advanced Manufacturing, following a Best in Class award at Good Design Awards Week earlier in October and being selected in March as the overall winner in the Australia By Design series.

The overall winner — Australian Technology Company of the Year — was telehealth business Coviu, which also claimed the Medtech & Pharma Award.

Five of the winning companies this year were led by female founders, including Coviu, noted “ATC21” organiser Impact Tech Ventures.

“We’re delighted to celebrate this year’s winners and also showcase Australia’s emerging diversity in tech,” said Impact Tech Ventures Executive Chairman, Patrick Mooney in a statement.

“We aim to find the best Australian scaleups, provide them with the best mentoring and growth support possible and connect them with relevant international partners. This year’s winners provide timely solutions to many of the most significant challenges and opportunities that Australia faces.”
