Work begins on $100 million Noumed pharmaceutical factory

Work has begun on a new $100 million pharmaceutical plant being built for Noumed Pharmaceutical at Salisbury in northern Adelaide in partnership with Terre Property Partners.

The plant, supported by $20 million from the federal government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy, is UK group Noumed Life Sciences’s first production plant in Australia.

Noumed is an integrated generics pharmaceutical company with a wide range of services and products from manufacturing to development.

The company currently manufactures all its products offshore, but will become almost entirely self-sufficient when the new facility opens by 2025, creating 180 full time jobs.

The plant is being built on a 43,000sqm site at Terre’s Nexus North Industrial Estate alongside companies including Asahi, Telstra, Haighs Chocolates and FJT Logistics.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will be approximately 26,000m2 in floor area.

Noumed’s Managing Director, Mark Thulborne said a local manufacturing plant would give customers shorter lead times and allow the company to react more quickly to their needs.

The company plans to link up with research and educational institutions.
