Funding for a $12.2 million round of Accelerating Commercialisation grants has been announced, with assistance going to companies including makers of EV chargers, products for green steelmaking, fruit harvesting robots and hydrogen energy storage systems.
Twenty-two companies were successful in the round of the program, which provides up to $1 million in matched funding to help bring new products, services and processes to market.
EVOS, which came out of stealth mode in July last year, was awarded $837,472 for its Smart Start Technology Project. The AC charger business is focussed on developing a software and hardware ecosystem to make recharging vehicles simpler and smarter for individuals and fleets, including through analytics and new authentication methods.
Biocarbon was awarded $293,840 for a project described as “Scaling Renewable Carbon for Green Steelmaking”. Biocarbon’s website describes it as a maker of “biochar, pyroligneous acid, bio oil and syngas for industrial and agricultural applications” from biomass waste.
Orchard automation company Ripe Robotics earned $571,567 for “Commercialisation of an Autonomous Fruit Harvesting Machine”. The company is currently trialling robotic harvesting of apples, oranges, and plums, and says it plans commercial-scale picking this year.
Endua was awarded just under $1 million for “Commercialising clean energy storage solutions using green hydrogen”. The company’s backers include Ampol and Main Sequence Ventures, and it is developing off-grid storage and generation systems based green hydrogen.

“These latest projects are all great examples of Australian innovations – many across high-skilled manufacturing priorities – which have remarkable potential to improve the quality of our lives, create new jobs and support our economic recovery,” said industry minister Angus Taylor in a statement.
