Multi-generation family-owned bed maker A.H. Beard is marking its 125th anniversary, hinting at plans for a new luxury collection aimed at a global audience in 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday, the company said it has “sights set on growth in Asia, Europe and the UK next year” as it builds on its current “significant global presence in markets including China, the US and Brazil”.

“Today, with factories in New Zealand and seven facilities across Australia – one in every state – we're proud to be at the forefront of sleep wellness innovation. This expanding presence empowers us to meet the growing demand for our products, both locally and internationally.” said Garry Beard, Chairman of A.H. Beard.

While not mentioning any specifics, A.H. Beard said it planned the launch of “a new luxurious collection to the global market that showcases the brand's cutting-edge sleep technology” in 2025.

“The exciting project will feature the finest fabrics, exclusive and high-quality fibres, and award-winning innovations, all exquisitely crafted and designed to deliver the ultimate premium sleep experience” it added.

Director Allyn Beard added: “We’re continuously looking for new ways to innovate and new markets to enter, all while honouring the culture, heritage and traditions that make us the business we are today.”

Last year the company celebrated a decade of exports to China – where it has 50 stores in the market and plans to add another 50 – with the Signature mattress among its most popular products there.

The top-of-the-line product can retail for up to $75,000 and uses top quality natural fibres including cashmere, mohair, alpaca and fine merino wool, and is handsewn, taking four specialised master craftsmen ten days to make.
