Edge computing for space developer Aicraft is looking forward to a future of innovation and collaboration following a successful visit to Taiwan.
The company took part in the TAcc+ (Taiwan Accelerator Plus) programme along with other high tech companies and inked what Chief Executive Officer of AICRAFT Tony Scoleri describes as ‘some incredible partnerships and opportunities’.
Scoleri took to social media and said: “This week, we were thrilled to sign two major MoUs: one with Tron Future Tech to support their radar imaging onboard processing, and another with Omspace Rocket & Exploration Private Limited from India to advance AI in space education and product integration.”
The highlight of Thursday last week was the signing of a MoU with Tron Future, focusing on radar imaging with their existing drone fleet and future satellites in the making.
“AICRAFT will help with their onboard processing.
“We had the honour of signing in the presence of Deputy Director-General Wu Chia-ying of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA), Ministry of Economic Affairs (pictured).”
AICRAFT announced the launch in 2023 of its first edge computing device, Pulsar to space on board the Antaris Inc. satellite JANUS-1.
Edge computers reduce the amount of data needed to be transmitted to Earth by doing some of the computing on board orbiting spacecraft.
AICRAFT already operates internationally, and has a contract with European imaging company Scanway Space to develop a space computer for a Korean satellite.
Scoleri said the TAcc+ programme was also an opportunity to meet with other international companies – the compant found strong alignment with Omspace Rocket & Exploration Private Limited from India and signed a MoU to collaborate on education of AI for space applications.
Omspace will also will look to integrate the AICRAFT products in their rocket, satellites and other products under development.
Christopher Lim, senior Commissioner from Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) witnessed the signing by AICRAFT.
“We shared our experiences of the past month and certainly my takeaway is that the outcomes exceeded my expectations.
“It’s a massive undertaking to find such relevant organisations and I am deeply grateful for it.”
