Doftek to set up in UK automotive tech cluster

Melbourne-headquartered active wheel alignment business Doftek has selected MIRA Tech Park, an automotive R&D hub in the UK, for its European expansion plans.

Doftek was established in 2017 and is commercialising its Active Wheel Alignment (AWA) retrofit system, which automatically controls a vehicle’s four wheels while driving to provide maximum contact between each tyre and the road surface, with benefits in handling, stability, tyre wear and emissions.   

According to a statement from the company on Thursday, the new location will accelerate its mission to deliver next-generation steering and wheel alignment solutions. It follows what the Doftek says have been successful tests in Europe.

“Having a physical presence at MIRA gives us unfettered access to the best of the European automotive ecosystem, while being physically closer to our customers and partners as we industrialise our products,” said co-founder Dr Geoff Rogers. 

“The UK government’s continued investment in the automotive ecosystem made choosing the UK an obvious choice.”

The campus in the Midlands will provide access to specialist engineering, simulation and physical proving ground facilities, and contains tenants including Jaguar Land Rover, NIO, Aston Martin, Bentley and Bosch Engineering.

“For ambitious companies like Doftek, MIRA Tech Park acts as a springboard into the UK and Europe – providing the connections, facilities and expertise to drive growth and global impact,” added the park’s Head of Commercial and Partnerships, Jack Bartlett.
