Electro Optic Systems snares a new weapons customer in Europe

Defence contractor Electro Optic Systems has followed on its success in selling weapons systems to Ukraine with another order announced to supply similar systems to a ‘western European government’, which the company did not name.

The $51 million order s for its Australian-made Remote Weapons System (RWS, pictured) which allow troops to aim and fire machine guns, canon and missiles from inside the safety of an armoured vehicle.

EOS will also supply spare parts, training and related services and draw upon its network of over 100 suppliers in Australia and internationally.

In April EOS announced announced a $120 million contract to export its RWS systems to Ukraine in one of the biggest contract wins of the the company’s history.

This was followed up quickly by a second order for Ukraine worth $61 million for RWS systems.

The new contract is subject to approval by the federal government which controls the export of defence equipment.

EOS has now sold more than 2,500 RWS systems which are in use by the Australian Defence Force as well as services in North America, Europe and South East Asia.
