Door and gate operator maker Grifco has been invited by the NSW government to be an early adopter in the Pathways to Manufacturing education and skills initiative.

The pilot initiative was announced last month by NSW Modern Manufacturing Commissioner, Lisa Emerson, at the Kariong Mountains High School on the Central Coast.

Twelve students from Kariong have signed up to the program.

According to a statement from Grifco – a subsidiary of the Chamberlain Group – the program will  introduce high school students to technologies used within industry and the skills needed to use them.

“The Pathways to Manufacturing initiative is an important program that will encourage a steady pipeline of skills and talent into the NSW manufacturing industry, and help ensure ongoing manufacturing innovation,” said Graeme Sheekey, the General Manager of Operations and Business Development at· Chamberlain Group, on Monday.

“Chamberlain Group has joined the program as we want to support the community where we work and provide as many employment opportunities as possible to the next generation of workers.”

The pilot program is being led by Investment NSW with the Department of Education. Other Central Coast organisations signing up to the Pathways initiative in the region include Sara Lee, Trendpac, Crossmuller, Elecbrakes and Central Coast Industry Connect.
