Manufacturers dominate SA export awards






Clean Seas Seafood which has systematised the production and export of Kingfish, tuna and Mulloway has been named the South Australian Exporter of the Year at the Business SA 2019 Export Awards.

Revealing the winners, Business SA CEO Martin Haese said: “Clean Seas is the global leader in full cycle breeding and farming of Yellow Tail Kingfish.

“It has been a long road for Clean Seas, and its determination over more than a decade of persistence has seen it making major international inroads.”

Clean Seas also took out the agribusiness award.

Business SA recognised 17 businesses on Friday night, with manufacturers dominating the field.

Three wineries were honoured, Accolade Wines which includes the Hardys brand, Mollydooker Wines and Haselgrove Wines.

Quality wine is the export star in SA, with the state producing 50 per cent of the country’s vintrage and 80 per cent of premium bottled wines.

Defence manufacturer Supashock, which has made great strides partnering with overseas firms to tackle the Australian market, and taking the US market with its own products was among the winners.

So was automotive and defence electronics manufacturer, Redarc which is a byword in the state for excellence in leadership and operations.

LBT Innovations, whose automated clinical laboratory equipment is gaining market traction was also named.

Soil probe manufacturer Sentek rounded out the manufacturer winners.

South Australia’s overseas goods exports in the 12 months to June were $12 billion, with services exports bringing the total to $15 billion.

This represents 14 per cent of Gross State Product.
