EM terminal enters FAT stage
EM Solutions’ 2M terminal development has now entered the “Factory Acceptance Testing” phase prior its installation and sea trials upon a Royal Australian Navy Ship. “Congratulations to all EMS staff for reaching this significant milestone!” the company said in an announcement on Linkedin last week.
Pakko introduces new quoting system
Award-winning packaging company Pakko has unveiled a new quoting system, which it says is designed to deliver “across multiple levels of business productivity and efficiency by providing an immediate quote directly to a customer’s inbox.” The system was designed in-house by the company’s IT team at its Brisbane site. “Once all the information is submitted, it only takes a few minutes to for an immediate and indicative pricing quote to be delivered to the [customer’s] inbox,” Pakko said in a statement on Monday. “Fast, convenient and designed to ease the pressure on businesses who need to allocate budget and timing to creating custom packaging.”
New medtech manufacturing hub launched at RMIT
A new $16.7 million facility based at RMIT University will assist entrepreneurs and researchers to collaborate on new medical technologies for healthcare and diagnostics. The Victorian Medical Device Prototyping and Scale-Up Facility was announced on Monday by state minister for higher education Gayle Tierney, and is supported via $12.7 million from the Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund (VHESIF). “This new facility bridges the gap between research and impact, supporting the deep collaborations we need to accelerate the translation of brilliant ideas into innovative, home-grown technologies,” said RMIT’s Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and Vice-President, Professor Calum Drummond. The project consortium includes Swinburne University, Deakin University, and Monash University, industry partners Sleeptite, Nutromics and Soterius, quality management and design partners and peak bodies.
Motorola Solutions acquires Barrett Communications
New York Stock Exchange-listed Motorola Solutions has announced the acquisition of Barrett Communications, a Perth-based developer of specialised radio communications products used in in civil security, government and other sectors. Barrett Communications designs high frequency (HF) and very high frequency (VHF) radio communications, which are complementary to Motorola Solutions’ existing radio portfolio, able to work in any location without the need for infrastructure. “We are excited to join the Motorola Solutions team,” said Andrew Burt, CEO, Barrett Communications. “We look forward to building upon Motorola Solutions’ industry-leading portfolio, extending critical voice communications to support essential operations, humanitarian work and disaster response and recovery.” Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
AusBiotech gives notice of AGM
AusBiotech has announced it will hold its AGM on a virtual platform and in accordance with the AusBiotech Constitution on November 3 at 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm (AEDT). Discussed will be annual accounts, results of director appointments, and “any other business that may be brought forward at a general meeting in accordance with the Constitution,” the life sciences organisation said.
