Gareth O’Reilly (pictured), who formerly headed Schneider Electric in the Pacific Region and Fletcher Building in Australia, has been appointed as the new CEO & Managing Director of electrical engineering firm Ampcontrol.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ampcontrol’s Chair, Greg Sedgwick, praised O’Reilly’s professional calibre, industry experience and international background.

“This is a very exciting time for our business and the people of Ampcontrol. I'm looking forward to having Gareth lead and help us achieve our growth strategy,” said Sedgwick.

According to the announcement, O’Reilly was most recently CEO, Australia at Fletcher Building. Before that, was CEO, Pacific at Schneider Electric, “where he led large, multi-brand product and solutions businesses across Australia and New Zealand with a focus on digital transformation, sustainability, and electrification.”

O’Reilly replaces Rod Henderson, who served in the MD and CEO roles at Ampcontrol for a decade. Henderson’s departure was announced in late-April, with executive search company Derwent Consulting engaged to find his replacement.

Ampcontrol was founded in Newcastle in 1968, and is the nation’s largest privately-held electrical engineering firm, with recent years bringing an increased focus on the energy transition.

“I’m honoured to be joining Ampcontrol,” said O'Reilly.

“With a strong strategic direction and a clear purpose, Ampcontrol is well-positioned to support customers on their electrification journey – and I’m thrilled to be part of that.”
