Metal additive manufacturing machine builder Titomic has received a purchase order from a US based manufacturer Triton Systems which furthers its penetration of US defence markets.

The $260,000 order for the manufacture of components using the company’s Titomic Kinetic Fusion (TKF) 3D printing process from the Chelmsford, Massachusetts company is the second order announced by Titomic this week.

Earlier the company received a further purchase order from aerospace company Boeing for the continuing flight qualification of components manufactured using the TKF process.

Titomic and Triton, a defence, energy and medical health innovation company, first entered a strategic partnership in 2020 to introduce Titomic Kinetic Fusion to the US Department of Defence.

Titomic said the contract was a step toward commercialising the TKF process on a larger scale, as well as expanding into key US markets.

CEO Managing Director Herbert Koeck said :”Our partnership n(with Triton Systems continues to grow and we look forward to delivering advanced manufacturing solutions that meet their unique needs.

“Our Kinetic Fusion technology, combined with Triton’s expertise, has the potential to drive innovation across the defence industry and beyond.”

Triton Systems said in a statement that the two companies complemented each other well.

“The integration of Titomic’s technology into our operations will help us drive innovation and growth.”

The TKF process is a high-throughput additive manufacturing process that accelerates metal powder particles within a supersonic gas flow resulting in high-rate metal deposition.

The collision of the particles fuses them together without the distorting effects of melting and resolidifying,
