XTEK awarded $8.1 million in drone contracts with Defence

XTEK has announced new contracts with the Commonwealth Department of Defence worth a total of $8.1 million

In a statement on Monday the ASX-listed company said the orders were under a current multi-year support contract for Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS). It comprised a $5.7 million order for new spare parts and related technical support, and the signing of a two-year extension option for its current SUAS support contract, worth $2.4 million.

“We are very pleased that Defence has… accepted to take up the option of a further two (2) years of support for this important contract,” said Scott Basham, Group CEO of XTEK.  

 “The spare parts to be purchased under these orders will be held in our state-of-the-art SUAS repair facility in Canberra and will be used to keep this important SUAS capability operational for Defence for years to come.”

XTEK supplies defence, law enforcement and other sectors, and develops its own products in composites and drone software.

The news follows an announcement last month of a “transformational” order from an undisclosed customer worth $US 33.2 million to supply “tens of thousands of individual advanced ballistic protection items” through XTEK’s US subsidiary.
