The second call for applications this week under the federal Modern Manufacturing Initiative has been made, with these now open for defence projects.
The opening coincided with the announcement by the federal government on Wednesday of $1 billion to acquire long-range defence missiles, and a 10-year roadmap for the defence industry.
Grant funding of between $1 million and $20 million is available through the integration and translation streams of the MMI, covering up to 50 per cent of project costs.
This came after Monday’s opening for applications for the Food and Beverage industry.
Food and Beverage and Defence are one of six National Manufacturing Priorities supported under the $1.3 billion MMI. The other four are Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Processing, medical products, space, and Clean Energy and Recycling.
Applications for defence project support are open until 5 pm AEDT on April 28.
